Centering Tips – Clearing the Mind

CENTRING TIPS – CLEARING THE MIND

A question asked from my web blog has prompted me to write the following on centring: Note: The secret to healing (i.e. achieving balance/oneness in relationships) is contained within these few word so hopefully it makes some sense.

The topic of centring is well covered from many angles in my books if interested (look at “Bridging the Gap in Health Care 1 and 2” – the chapter by chapter synopsis to find where).  One can be centred in many ways; e.g. in different energy centres or regions of the body, on different levels (e.g. spiritually, intuitively, mentally, emotionally, energetically and physically) and centred in time (i.e. in the present, or “eternal now” aware simultaneously of future, present and past, without being distracted by either extreme).  It’s all about balanced awareness and finding the right balance point in relationships (e.g. between the scattered thoughts/feelings and the healthy ones or health within the body or being – to allow them to communicate and open up a pathway for health, peace and calm to spread.

A simple way to help to clear the head, for example, is to achieve a balanced relationship between the heart and the head. You could imagine a line or river of liquid light rising from a light in the heart to another light the head (or whatever is in the way obstructing it) and clearing out any murkiness, or cluttered thoughts/feelings etc and to hold the balance point between the heart and head until both feel clear.  This is a bit like holding a hose (of the mind steady with the will) as the water/energy flows from a healthy source; i.e. from the heath within the heart (if there – if not find it somewhere else and work from there) up to, into and through the head and waiting until the channel is clear to the head.  Note: one simply holds the hose in the right direction and waits until the path is clear.  One shouldn’t “force” the clearing, as this is trying to make the path clear without observing possible reasons why by acknowledging the obstructions as part of the process – which will happen naturally if the path is “allowed” to clear because all the obstructions in between will be flushed up to the consciousness for recognition on the way out – informing us quite possibly of what we are letting go of. We simply hold the hose of the mind stead and wait – usually through what at first may feel like a bit of reaction (where the problems react to health), then eventually they settle down and realise they are playing up and health isn’t so bad – i.e. are willing to listen – and arrive at a neutral point, and then “respond” positively by building in more health – until a final “release” where they have had enough (for now) and a balance is achieved and a balanced rhythm (breath) is established between the two points.  When a release is felt, focus will be better and you should feel more centred once again.  That’s one option for centring this particular relationship.  A similar thing can be done with other relationships such as between any two centres/regions, people, levels, etc.

Another very simple (practical) way of appreciating what being centred feels like is as follows:

Sit or stand, and be aware of the space to the left and right of you simultaneously. If you are naturally centred – you will automatically find the centre of balance between the two opposites and it will be in the middle (true ideal centre).  But if you are not centred you may find that the balance point may be more to the left or right from a few mm to quite a distance.  The relative centre “for you” then will be that point where your awareness needs to sit (be placed/balanced – as if on a type rope) to be aware equally of the left or the right.  For example – you may find that to think/feel equally both directions requires your awareness to be “say” – a foot to the left of your true ideal centre; – from there the scales (awareness) feel equally balanced between polar opposite directions.  This will be your relative balance point and can be anywhere along the infinite line right or left.  Then – to rebalance – all you need to do is hold an awareness of this balance point in relation with the true ideal centre.  This is a bit like remembering where you have parked the car after having forgotten and wandered off a bit.  Three things are needed to find your way back;

1)      You have to know where you actually are (your relative location)

2)      You have to know where the car is parked

3)      You have to know these two things in relationship with each other

For example – if you know 1) and 2) but not 3) you will not know where 1 is in relation to 2) and so will not realise how to find the way back to the car. All three points are thus needed.  By being aware of the balance point 3) between 1) and 2) – it’s like our inner mechanisms (intelligence, call it what you will) saying “Ahh – thanks, now that I know where I am in relation to where I should be I can find my way back home”. One then waits until the balance is adjusted and you feel the two come closer together and then become as one (I.e. you are back at the car).   Keep in mind however, that sometimes there is no direct route back because of obstacles (mental, energetic and emotional usually) and it my even go more out of balance initially (going the long way around so to speak) – so whatever happens, just wait, allow and follow; stay in the balance point (3) between 1) and 2) – which is constantly shifting, and allow the consciousness to move freely, until all three become one and you feel more anchored in the ideal centre once more (or at least a little bit closer if more sessions are needed over time).

Now – this is only centring in one plane (between left and right). Now add an awareness of above and below and repeat the exercise and finally add an awareness of in front and behind you.  Be aware of left and right, up and down and forward and back.  The sixth sense (of the mind) is then engaged in all directions and if you can find the balance point between all of these – you will feel very centred – aware of the centre and simultaneously of the periphery, which extends infinitely in all directions – like rays of the sun.    This may also give you a sense of being present, aware of the whole without getting fixed upon any one part and simultaneously, if successful, you will feel calm, still and present.

Now, how do you feel?
